Just by looking at the photo above you would have thought it is being "photoshopped" as there is no way for three apex leaders to cohabit in the same environment. All three of them, Shere Khan the tiger, Leo the Lion and Baloo the bear had actually been living together since they were two months old. They were being rescued from drug barons that kept them as status pets and were brought to Noah's Ark Animal Rescue Centre where the owners decide to keep them together. Instead of having conflict with each other, all three of them have bonded very well and treated each other like their own kind.

As what stated by the owner of Noah's Ark Rescue Centre, this is probably the only place you can get to see this combination. There are chances where you might see this in a circus but those animals are trained and force to live with each other. In this instance, they not only bonded well despite their animal difference which will never occur in the wild. Personally, I felt that it might be the bond have with each other since young and also the harsh environment they were in before being rescued.
However, we have also heard of news where people kept wild animals as pets and were attacked by them. In some cases, the owner even got killed by their own "pet" which in the first place should be living in the wild. When Noah's Ark decide to place all three of them together the same debate came up as some people think it might cause more harm to the animals since in the wild they are mortal enemy. There are also suggestion to release them back into the wild as it is where they belong.
Do take some time to view the video as it shows how the three animals get along and the amazing bond they share. Personally, I think that Noah's Ark rescue centre has been doing a great job and the three animals have been doing very well for the past eight years. Even thought they are kept in an enclosed area but they still have each other for support, and most important of all they are safe from other dangers.
So do you think they did the right thing by keeping the animals together or they should be return to their natural habitat.

Even though it is interesting to see the animals get along well and live together, I believe that should be returned to their natural habitat as it disrupt their natural way of life.
ReplyDeleteI supposed that the decision to put the 3 animals living together is a tough one.
ReplyDeleteBeing able to let the 3 animals living together in peace and harmony shows that animals like men are kind in nature. However, the conditions to allow such things to happen is unlimited love and care from the Noah's Ark rescue centre and of course the availability of food needed by this animals. If the conditions are not present, probably the animals might harm or attack each other for its survival.
It is nice to see animals of 3 different nature to live together but this also takes away the natural ability of the animal which is the ability to hunt for food. Disrupting the nature of life.
I am a firm believer in not allowing wild animals be in captivity. Wild animals are meant to roam free and survive. One good example would be the latest incident in Sea World where a trainer was killed by an orca in captivity.
ReplyDeleteThese majestic animals should be trained to adapt to their natural habitats as soon as they were found. Allowing them to return to nature.
hahah I will really like to be there to see those animals living together and even pet them.
ReplyDeleteAnyways back to your question, I believe that animals should be released back into the wild only if they have developed adequate survival skills to do so.
In this case, I believe the trainer has not prepared them for the wild, and since they are not being ill treat, I guess it is feasible.
I will like to see them get into a friendly fight though. Money's on the bear.
Just my two kents worth.
Wow! The video is so enlightening! I think the entire video speaks volume about animals. Not in the sense that animals of such differences can leave peacefully together, but it shows that perhaps animals do share the same type of nurturing process as human does.
ReplyDeleteFrom a psychological perspective, this will have required operant conditining before the three animals can be conditioned to accept each other. However from a sociological perspective through the concept of sociolization, the video may have suggested that animals can be socialized like how children are being socilaized into the society.
Perhaps this is how the owner of Noah ark rehabilitation center managed to make all three animals accept each other!
I think that those animals should be returned to the wild. No animals should be locked up. Even though they have been kept for 8 eights, they might one day find their "inner-self" and start fighting among themselves. They might also start to attack the owner of Noah ark rehabilitation center.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly amazing to see these animals getting along living together. I guess most people would not believe it unless they saw this video. I've seen video of tiger's cub being rescued and kept as pet which eventually was released to the wild upon growing up. This is to allow it to get back to it's nature way of life. Personally I feel that it is really good to have them living together. There are bound to have some conflicts between these animals however I believe if they are under close supervision and the owner are able to take care of them, they can live in coherent, why not? Since putting them in wild they will definitely get into a fight when they see each other, isn't it better for them to live together harmoniously like they are now? Put it simiply, for e.g. people of different race and religion are still able to stay in peace despite the difference, there should be a way for animals to stay in peace too. For as long as they are well taken care of, there is no harm in trying.
ReplyDeleteThe first thought that came to my mind was isn't this the same as asking can technology coexist with nature? The arguments are endless and neither side is wrong.
ReplyDeletePersonally I would feel that there is no harm in keep the status quo as the animals have been raised in this manner for years and sudden change might traumatize and scar them for life.
Besides this issue of co-existing is somewhat similar to what I've mentioned earlier, can technology and nature co-exist? There's no definite answer to that, the progress of technology is in a way killing nature by depleting nature's resources and polluting it. But at the same time, the progress of technology aids in reducing the pollution and consumption of natural resources. So who is right and who is wrong? There is no definite answer.
animals are just like humans. More than often, you dislike someone, therefore you try to stay away from him or her. But then, once you get to know the person, you would realise that he or she might not be so bad after all.
ReplyDeleteI have also read articles where tigers in the zoo actually have forgotten how to hunt because they have been fed by humans their entire lives.
So ultimately, it is the environment that will cultivate how these little creatures will grow up to be.
Wow. Pretty awesome stuff. It truly is rare to see such powerhouses in the animal kingdom living together. But I feel that these animals should be conditioned properly and released into the wilds. These majestic beasts should not be kept in a house, they should be out leading packs and hunting, living the animal life. Their current conditions are probably detrimental to them should they be returned to the wild without any change in their "mindsets" towards the other animals since as previously mentioned, they are mortal enemies.
ReplyDeleteWell animals also have feelings, once they "understand" each other, living together is not surprising at all, although these are rare cases
ReplyDeleteFor me, I feel that there isn't such a need to seperate them into their natural habitat. I mean, for them, they've been kept safe since they were 2 months old, naturally, this is their natural habitat now.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, it's great that they're able to live so peacefully together. It only goes to show that perhaps the wild animals are conformed into their usual sterotypes, and well, modelling their own elders of their kind, that makes them fight when grown up in the wild.
Nice vid, btw! It's really heartwarming to see them being so happily together and well taken cared of. (Although the lion is a little bit TOO taken cared of. I've never seen a beer belly on a lion before!)
i think it's amazing how lion, tiger and bear co-exist. Lions will usually fight with tiger over terroteries but they have learnt how to share and accept the differences that they have from one another.
ReplyDeleteIt rare to see three different animal of such species living together. but somewhat i still feel that they should be release back to the wild where they freely belong.
ReplyDeleteIts amazing to see these animals living together. However, i sticking to the logic that species of the same kind should live with their own kind.
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed well-taken care of in the video. But lion being the king of all animals should be let into the wild to be with his fellow mates and unite with its own family.
I believe that all the 3 animals will love to know their own background. Just like an adopted child would love to know his or her own biological parents.
i feel that it is just like people from different backgrounds co existing in an environment. Though from different species, through time it is possible to see the animals living together so peacefully..
ReplyDeletewhoah, can't believe that lion, bear and tiger could actually co-exist! i think Noah Ark's Rescue Center has done a great job with what they've been doing for the past 8 years with the animals. personally, i'm an animal lover.. and i love tuning in to either animal planet and national geographic channel in my own free time. having read this, i feel that since they've been in the center for 8 years or more and have bonded so well with one another, they should remain as what they're and where they are.
ReplyDeletethough most might argue that they should belong to the wild or in their natural habitat, for one reason why i feel they should still keep these animals in the center:
1) having been domesticated and protected, i believe their hunting and survival abilities have been slightly impaired, thus being unable to survive on their own in the wild.
Its quite surprising actually to be able to see this 3 animals living together. It ain't easy to be able to see the 3 of them together as their living habits differ.
ReplyDeleteBoth keeping the animals or releasing them to the wild has its pros & cons. I will feel is better to return them to their natural habitat. Being in the wild enable them to learn to how to live on their own so if any one day if they are ever release, they will be able to survive.
It's natural that animal should be living in the wild. Although they don't feel so much freedom as in wild, but they are protected by the keepers. Every living thing wants to be cared and protected.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting to see 3 different types of animal able to live together, it's wonderful =)
I think that besides the wonderful concept that 3 different animals can live in the same environment, we can also take a lesson or two for them. I know this is a little out of point but just want to share my thoughts :)
ReplyDeleteAs encouraged as I am by this wonderful union, I think that this teaches us that no matter how different we may be, in race, religion and culture, there is always still hope for unity and peace in this world. As the iconic Martin Luther King once gave his greatest speech, I have a dream, I believe that if 3 animals from different backgrounds with different instincts can come together, what more can we, more rational individuals accomplish. It encourages that if animals can live in unity despited differences, so can we. No longer would unity be a dream but rather a reality. :)
AND ! i feel that the animals should be released back into the wild. I believe that the initial stages of recovery for these beautiful animals should be done in captivity by us but when it is time, they should be released back into the wild where they rightfully belong :)
My apologies for the earlier comments with the numerous spelling mistakes. Was in a rush. =)
ReplyDeleteAn interesting article instead.
Animals living harmoniously together.
To an extent i'll agree that they've done a good job, but animals being animals, it's difficult to really understand of to guess what's really in their thoughts.
Anything can happen, "pets" could kill their own very owner, let alone these 3 animals do harm to each other should they argue one fine day?
It's unpredictable i would say.
Nobody will probably knows until things happen.
But it'll be too late by them right?
it's cool and interesting to see 3 different types of wild animals staying together but it will be better if they are back to their own world. So many people are keeping them as pet but got killed by their own "pets" so it shows there's still a danger if u want to keep them.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting for 3 different wild species to live together. For cats to live with dogs are common nowadays but for this, it was not common.
ReplyDeleteThey did the right thing to adopt the animals as they will be safe there. With sufficient food and care, they will be healthier. As compared to their own habitat, they might be killed due to poaching activities, hunting, etc.
Therefore, I feel that the life they had now is more safe compared to their own habitat.
I feel that this is a special case where the animals have adapted to each other. Seeing how close they are I suppose there isn't a need for seperation now. However, it would be good if in the long run these animals are allowed to be with their own species as captivity would unlikely be the permanant solution. They will still need to learn their species's communication language and what not. Hence, though it is alright for now, a better suggestion would be to allow them to interact with their own species and allow them to grow healthier emotionally and socially.
